Bangladesh Football Federa-tion (BFF) is facing fund shortage for the construction of the proposed football academy, reports UNB.
The fund allocated by FIFA is not enough and as a result, the construction of the academy has become uncertain, said BFF General Secretary Anwarul Haq Helal. He said this while talking to the press in the city Wednesday.
He said BFF identified a piece of khas land in Gazipur for the proposed football academy, which will cost about Tk 70-80 million (Tk 7-8 crore). But it is quite beyond the means of BFF to purchase the land at such a high price.
Another huge amount of money will be needed to construct the academy complex, Helal added.
Earlier, FIFA pledged US$ 250,000 (approx. Tk 17.5 million) for the construction of the academy.
