Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) will get Tk 60 million (6 crore) from private television Channel 9 to host this year Bangabandhu International Gold Cup Football Tournament that will begin in the third week of January next year with the participation of six countries, reports BSS.
In this regard, a signing ceremony between BFF and Channel 9 was held at the BFF conference room Thursday. BFF president Kazi M Salahuddin and Channel 9 Managing Director Enayatur Rahman signed for their respective organisations. Channel 9 also handed cheque for Tk 10 million out of 60 million to BFF.
Under the contract, the Channel 9 will become the official title and TV right holders for the six-team event for the next five years.
They will also give Tk 60 million to BFF each year to host the tournament. The five-year contract is renewable in each year.
"Channel 9 Managing Director Enayatur Rahman said, "Our main target is to make popular the country's football by hosting the tournament."
BFF President Kazi M Salahuddin said we have five years contract with Channel 9 to host the tournament.
BFF senior vice president Abdus Salam Murshedy, vice president Badal Roy, BFF general secretary Abu Nayeem Sohag, BFF members, Harun-Ur-Rashid, Sheikh M Maruf Hasan, Amirul Islam Babu, Elias Hossain and Satyajit Das Rupu, Channel 9 chief executive officer brigadier general (retd.) M Jamil Ahmed Khan, head of account Zinnat Hossain, head of news Aminur Rashid, head of sales and marketing Nurul Islam Khan, head of programme and events Tanveer Khan were, among others, present on the occasion.
Seven countries - Malaysia, Bahrain, Laos, Singapore, Thailand, Qatar and India - already confirmed their participation in the tournament.
The tournament will be held in Dhaka and Sylhet venues of the country.
