Biman clinch First Div Chess title

Bangladesh Biman emerged champion in the Dutch-Bangla Bank First Division Chess League-2009, organised by Bangladesh Chess Federation and sponsored by Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited held in the city Saturday, reports BSS.
This was Biman's 14th First Division Chess League title.
Both Biman and Titas Club accumulated 18 points each after the completion of the 10th round and in a tie-breaker Biman defeated titas club by 6-2 points. The players who represented Biman are: GM Ziaur Rahman, GM Niaz Murshed, IM Saptarshi Roy, FM Abu Sufian Shakil, FM Mohammed Abdul Malek and Mirza Enamul Hossain.
Titas Club had to remain satisfied as runner-up. The players who represented them are as follow are: FM Kh. Aminul Islam, Saif Uddin Lavlu, Mahtabuddin Ahmed Robin, Shafiq Ahmed, Jamal Uddin and IWM Rani Hamid.
I2 Soft Solution Limited finished at the third spot with 16 match points. Players of I2 Soft are: Farhadur Imam, Imran Ali Elin, Nahid Parvej Sagar, Obaidul Islam Shahin, Aminul Islam Lipon and Sazzad Kishor.
Basir Memorial Chess Club became 4th with 14 match points. Other positions are: 5th-Pradip Sangah, Mohakhali, points-10, 6th-Farashganj Sporting Club, points-8, 7th-Sonali Bank Sports & Recreation Club, points-7, 8th-Sultana Kamal Smirity Pathagar, points-6, 9th-Dhaka Metropolitan Chess Club, points-6, 10th-Faith Chess Club, points-5 and 11th-Jobs Vander Dot Com, points-2.
In the last round games today Biman beat I2 Soft by 3.5-.5 points. GM Zia, GM Niaz and IM Saptarshi beat accordingly Farhad, Elin and Nahid. FM Malek drew with Shahin.
