BJMC clinch top slot in National Athletics

The three-day National Athletics Championship concluded Saturday at the Bangladesh Army Stadium in Banani with Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation (BJMC) securing the top slot winning 11 gold, 13 silver and 9 bronze medals, reports UNB.

Bangladesh Navy finished close runners-up collecting 11 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronzes.

Bangladesh Army were in the 3rd position with 9 gold, 15 silver and 11 bronzes while BKSP was placed 4th with 5 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronzes.

Mesbah Ahmed of Bangladesh Navy named the country's fastest man by clinching men's 100-meter sprint crown clocking 10.52 seconds while Shirin Akhter of BKSP emerged as the country's fastest woman winning the women's 100-meter title with timing of 11.84 seconds.

Thirteen events were decided on the 3rd and last day of the meet on Saturday.

A total of 519 athletes from 53 teams from all over the country took part in the three-day meet that failed to create any national record.
