BKSP champions in age group swimming

Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Prothistan (BKSP) emerged champions in the Cotton Group 30th Age Group Swimming Competition that concluded Wednesday at the Syed Nazrul Islam Swimming Complex in the city, reports BSS.

BKSP topped in the medal tally securing 64 gold, 57 silver and 48 bronze medals while Bangladesh Ansar finished runners-up with 22 gold, 17 silver and 17 bronze medals.

Bogra Swimming Club finished third place bagging 13 gold, 8 silver and 2 bronze medals while Chapainawabganj District Sports Association placed in fourth with 2 gold medals.

Besides, Dolphin Swimming Club and Jhenaidah Swimming Club bagged one goal medal each after the conclusion of three-day meet.

Meanwhile, seven more national records were decided on the third and last day to raise the national records total at 21.

Ariful Islam of BKSP and Moriom Khatun of Bogra Swimming Center were named the best swimmers of the competition.

Arif secured 13 gold including three national records in the 18-20 age group event, while Moriom won 10 gold and three silver including six national record in the same event.

State Minister for Youth and Sports Biren Sikder, MP, was the chief guest on the concluding day and distributed the prizes among the winners.  Cotton Group Chairman Shaheen Mahmud was present there as the special guest.
