BOA hands over Tk 0.5m to Baki, Shakil

Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) handed over on Sunday its pre-announced cash awards to two Bangladesh shooters, who won silver medals in the recently-concluded 21st Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, reports UNB.

BOA President and Army Chief General Abu Belal Mohammad Shafiul Haque handed over the cash award of Tk 0.5 million (5 lakh) each to shooters Abdullah Hel Baki and Shakil Ahmed at the BOA Bhaban in the city on Sunday afternoon.

Baki clinched the silver medal in the 10-meter air rifles. Shakil Ahmed won the silver medal in the 50-metre pistol.

The BOA also honoured Baki's air rifles coach Klavs Jorn Christensen and Shakil's pistol coach Marko Sokic with Tk 0.1 million (1 lakh) each. In their absence, local coach Golam Shafiuddin Khan received the prize money.

Besides, BOA also decided to award the Bangladesh athletes with Taka 50,000 each, who earned certificates from the CWG authority on reaching the top eight places of individual events of the games.
