After a recess of one year and nine months, the third version of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) T20 Cricket will begin in the 3rd week of November this year, reports UNB.
Chairman of the BPL Governing Committee and BCB Director Afzal-ur-Rahman Sinha disclosed this at a press conference at his business office in the capital Wednesday.
The 2nd version of BPL with the participation of seven franchises concluded in February 2013 where Dhaka Gladiators emerged champions for the 2nd consecutive time beating Chittagong Kings by 43 runs in the final.
Of the seven participating teams, five (except Rangpur Riders and Dhaka Gladiators) became defaulters for an average Tk 100 million (10 crore).
"We will issue letters to all the defaulter teams very soon to make payment within a time limit of one month. If they fail to make payment within stipulated period, then BCB will take action against them, and we will look for new franchise team," Sinha further said.
Replying to query, Sinha said players from all over the world including those from Pakistan are expected to participate in the ensuing BPL. But Indian cricketers will not participate due to the restriction of their cricket board.
Seven franchising teams that participated in the 2nd BPL are: Dhaka Gladiators, Chittagong Kings, Khulna Royal Bengals, Duronto Rajshahi, Sylhet Royals, Rangpur Riders and Barisal Burners.
