CAPE TOWN, Sept 16 (AP): Australia fast bowler Brett Lee took the first ever hat trick in a Twenty20 international Sunday against Bangladesh.
Lee dismissed Shakib al Hasan, Mashrafe Mortaza and Alok Kapali in successive balls of the 17th over at the Newlands Stadium.
Shakib was caught behind for 16 by Adam Gilchrist off the third ball of the over, after Lee cramped the batsman with a ball that forced the edge.
Lee clean bowled Mortaza for a golden duck with the next ball - a fast yorker which Mortaza did not pick up.
The next delivery was a good length ball which hit Kapali on the pads, and Pakistan umpire Asad Rauf gave him out leg before wicket.
Australia won the Super Eight match by nine wickets after putting Bangladesh in to bat.
