Brothers Union Club lost a valuable point in a goalless draw with Farashganj SC in their opening Group B match of the Citycell Super Cup Football at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka Thursday, reports UNB.
Both the teams played cautious football and the ball was mostly concentrated in the midfield.
Brothers Union that finished fourth in the recently concluded B League, finally had to leave the field with one point, despite getting two scoring chances.
Farashganj SC, which was totally off-colour in the match, got only one scoring chance in the entire proceedings but failed to convert it into a goal.
The Gopibagh outfit Brothers came close to scoring in the 40th minute but a close range shot of their foreign player Henry Quaye, off Zahid Hossain right wing cross, was brilliantly saved by Farashganj defender Mamun from the goal line.
Farashganj custodian Sujan foiled another attempt in the 44th minute as he fisted Motiur Munna's goal-bound shot taken from the vantage position.
Farashganj managed only one scoring chance in the 66th minute but a close range header of their Nigerian recruit Emeka Lucky, off a Kabir free kick, narrowly missed the target.
