Brothers Union registered their 2nd consecutive win in the Citycell B League, beating Chittagong Abahani by 1-0 goal in the day's lone match at the Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS) in the city Thursday, reports UNB.
After the day's result, Brothers Union Club bagged seven points while Chittagong Abahani remained at their previous tally of four points both playing three matches each.
Nigerian striker Michael Oniya scored the all-important goal for the traditional Gopibagh Outfit in the 34th minute with a left-footer from just outside the danger zone after getting a pass from Tapu (1-0).
The Brothers Union Club could have left the ground with a bigger margin but they squandered couple of good scoring chances.
In the very 9th minute, Oniya failed to net from around the penalty spot as his feeble shot went just wide of the post finding the opponent custodian helpless.
Then in the 30th minute, Oniya could consider himself unlucky when his left footer volley from close range returned to play hitting the side after getting a right side cross from Tapu.
After the breather, Mehdi Hasan Tapu came in action in the 60th minute when his header from inside the D-box off a corner taken by Zahid went just over the cross bar.
Friday's match - Muktijoddha SKC vs Arambagh KS (3:30 pm) at BNS.
