BSJA new office bearers

Raihan Al Mugni of the Dhaka Tribune was elected Saturday General Secretary (GS) of the Bangladesh Sports Journalist Association (BSJA) for the next two years, reports UNB.
Raihan bagged 31 votes to be elected for the hot seat in a keenly contested election beating Arifur Rahman Babu of the Sakaler Khabor, who polled 29.
The committee was formed in the 15th biennial general meeting of the association held at the BSJA office Saturday with its president ATM Saiduzzaman in the chair.
BSJA general secretary Saidur Rahman Shamim and treasurer Anisur Rahman Poltu presented their reports at the meeting.
Aghor Mondal (freelance), Tareq Mahmud Moni of the Prothom Alo, Junaid Hossian of the ETV swept the posts of three vice presidents securing 48, 47 and 43 votes respectively while Mahbubul Alam Babu of the Asian TV conceded defeat with 27 votes.
SM Sumon of the Baishaki TV was elected joint secretary bagging 43 votes while his rival Abdullah Hira of the Channel 9 got 17 votes.
Earlier, Sports Editor of the Kaler Kantho ATM Saiduzzaman was re-elected BSJA president unopposed while Anisur Rahman Poltu of the Daily Star treasurer uncontested.
Six members were also elected unopposed in the election. They are Dilu Khondakar of Channel 24, Mohammad Isam of Cricinfo, Rakibul Hasan of Maasranga Television, Syed Mohammad Pithu of the Daily Independent, Minhajuddin Khan of the Dhaka Tribune and Ariful Islam Rony of bdnews24com.
Former BSJA general secretary Jalal Ahmed Chowdhury conducted the election.
