After the disappointing loss in the two-match T20 series in last ball thrillers in Chittagong, hosts Bangladesh will take on Sri Lanka in the three-match One Day International (ODI) series that begins in the city today (Monday) at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, reports UNB.
The day/night match will begin at 1:00 pm.
The remaining two ODI matches will be held on February 20 and 22 at the same venue.
State-run Bangladesh Television (BTV) and Maasranga TV will telecast live all the three ODI matches like the test and T20 series.
The Bengal Tigers lost the two-match test series 0-1 and conceded a straight 0-2 defeat in the two-match T20 series in the last ball thrillers.
The last ODI series between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in March last year was a drawn affair. One match in Hambantota was rained off while Bangladesh won the rain-shortened third ODI in Pallekele after conceding an 8-wicket defeat in the first ODI.
Bangladesh have not lost a bilateral ODI series at home since 2011.
Regular captain of Bangladesh Mushfiqur Rahim is expected to lead the team on Monday after missing the two-match T20 series against Sri Lanka due to injury.
Sri Lanka won just one bilateral ODI series out of their last five, drawing three others. The Sri Lanka's win came against South Africa at home.
Sri Lanka could make two changes to their side that last played an ODI. Nuwan Kulasekara's impact as a bowler and fielder in the Twenty20 series could bring him back into contention while Thisara Perera also has a chance. There is likely to be a choice between Ashan Priyanjan and Kithuruwan Vithanage.
Bangladesh Squad (probable): Tamim Iqbal, Shamsur Rahman, Anamul Haque/Mominul Haque, Mushfiqur Rahim (capt), Naeem Islam, Shakib Al Hasan, Nasir Hossain, Sohag Gazi, Mashrafe Mortaza, Arafat Sunny and Rubel Hossain
Sri Lanka Squad (probable): Kusal Perera, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Kumar Sangakkara (wk), Dinesh Chandimal, Ashan Priyanjan/Kithuruwan Vithanage, Angelo Mathews (capt), Thisara Perera, Nuwan Kulasekara, Sachithra Senanayake, Lasith Malinga and Ajantha Mendis.
