FIDE Master Manon Reja Neer of Bangladesh Navy took solo lead in the points table with four points after the fifth round of SAIF Powertec 48th Chess Championship held at Bangladesh Chess Federation Hall room on Thursday, reports BSS.
GM Ziaur Rahman and GM Niaz Murshed of Bangladesh Ansar are jointly shared the second position 3.5 points.
Four players shared the third position with three points. They are reigning champion grandmaster Enamul Hossain Razib, int'l master Mohammad Fahad Rahman, FM Tahsin Tajwar Zia of Bangladesh Ansar and IM Abu Sufian Shakil of Bangladesh Biman.
In the day's fifth round matches, FM Manon Reja Neer won against his teammate IM Md Minhaz Uddin, IM Abu sufian Shakil beat GM Enamul Hossain Razib, GM Ziaur Rahman defeated FM Khandaker Aminul Islam of Bangladesh Navy, GM Niaz Murshed defeated FM Shaikh Nasir Ahmed of Bangladesh Navy, IM Mohammad Fahad Rahman split point with FM Tahsin Tajwar Zia, FM Nayem Haque of Bangladesh Biman defeated Amit Bikram Roy of Rajbari district, FIDE master Debaraj Chatterjee of Barisal defeated Anata Choudhury of Palli Sanchoy Bank.
