A late goal by Narayan Pal guided Chittagong Abahani to a lone goal victory over Farashganj SC in the second phase match of the B League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in the city Tuesday, reports UNB.
With this result, Chittagong Abahani secured 15 points from 19 matches while Farashganj SC remained at 22 points completing their second phase (20) matches.
Earlier, in the first phase, the 'sky blue' port city outfit beat the Dhaka-based Farashganj SC by 2-0 goals.
After a barren first half in the day's match, Narayan scored the all-important goal for Chittagong Abahani in the 82nd minute with a header from inside the danger zone capitalizing on a left wing Khokon free kick (1-0).
Earlier, Chittagong Abahani came close to scoring in the 25th minute, but Samuel's shot from just outside the D- box was saved superbly by opponent custodian Mamun at the cost of corner.
Chittagong Abahani missed a chance to raise their margin of victory as captain Khokon Das's right-footed angular free-kick from around 15 yards narrowly sailed over the crossbar.
On the other hand, Farashganj SC booters seemed completely off-colour all through the match and failed to launch a single attack during the entire proceedings.
