Chittagong Div beat Barisal Div by 8 wickets in one-dayer

A brilliant 133 runs by national opener Tamim Iqbal enabled Chittagong Division to make a flying start in the one-day match of the Ispahani Mirzapore Tea 9th National Cricket League outplaying Barisal Division by eight wickets at the Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogra Tuesday, reports UNB.
This was a sweet revenge for Chittagong Division who suffered a five-wicket loss against Barisal Division in the opening four-day match of the Ispahani Tea 9th National Cricket League that concluded on Monday at the same venue.
Sent into bat first in the day's match, Barisal Division, led by former national vice-captain Shahriar Nafees Ahmed, were all out for 224 in 49.3 overs with middle order batsman Raisul Islam scoring team highest 70 runs off 89 balls that featured four fours.
After the dismissal of top four batsmen -- Shahriar Nafees (0), Hannan Sarker (18), Imran Ahmed (10) and Raquibul Hasan (12) -- for 48 runs in 14.4 overs, number five batsman Raisul Islam pairing with Abul Bashar contributed 80 runs in the 5th wicket stand.
Apart from Raisul Islam's 70, Abul Bashar scored 42 runs off 68 deliveries with three fours and a six while number seven Arafat Salauddin added another useful 41 runs off 42 balls with one four and two sixes.
Elias Sunny caused the major damage to the Barisal innings claiming four wickets for 36 runs in 7.3 overs while Kazi Kamrul Islam took two wickets for 40 runs in 10 overs with a maiden.
In reply, Chittagong Division, riding on the second wicket stand between two brothers -- Tamim Iqbal and Nafees Iqbal, cantered to their target of 225 for the loss of two wickets with 14 overs to spare.
Chittagong made a solid start scoring 146 runs in the second wicket stand, despite the dismissal of another opener Gazi Salahuddin (1) for 54 runs in 5.3 overs.
Teenaged national opener Tamim Iqbal hammered 133 runs off 92 balls with 15 fours and seven sixes to be adjudged man of the match.
His elder brother, Nafees Iqbal, contributed not out 56 runs off 98 balls with six fours while two down Nazimuddin scored unbeaten 19 runs off 15 balls with two fours and a six.
Arafat Salauddin and Tariqul Islam captured the wickets of Gazi Salahuddin and Tamim Iqbal conceding 26 and 51 runs respectively.
