Twenty-seven matches of Citycell Open 3on3 Basketball Championship (boys and girls) were decided on the opening day (Friday) at the Basketball Gymnasium in the city's Dhanmondi, reports BSS.
On the opening day, Bangladesh Army, Dhumketu, Dhaka Gladiators, Bangladesh Police, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) A, Bangladesh Navy, The Grages, Bangladesh Army B, Dhaka Gladiators, Bangladesh Navy C, Bangladesh Krira Shikka Prothistan (BKSP) C, Bangladesh Police, Bangladesh Navy B, Dhumketu, Old DOHS, Bangladesh Army B, Dhaka Gladiators B, The Shawons Club, The Grages, Bangladesh Navy A, The Gregarious , Dhaka Gladiators, Bangladesh Navy A, Bangladesh Army A, The Wraiths, Dhaka Gladiators, and BKSP won their opening matches beating their respective rivals.
The final and prize distribution ceremony of the championship will be held today (Saturday) at the same venue.
National Sports Council Secretary Shivnath Roy will be the chief guest in the final and will distribute the prizes. Citycell Chief Executive Officer Mehbub Chowdhury will present as the special guest.
Earlier, on the day, Bangladesh Basketball Federation (BBF) President Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin formally inaugurated the two-day meet as the chief guest. Pacific Bangladesh Telecom Limited head of corporate communication and public relation Taslim Ahmed was present as special guest.
Besides, Basketball Federation vice president Mainul Ahasan Monju and general secretary AK Sarkar were, among others, present on the occasion.
