Cox\\\'s Bazar stadium to host Tests

April 03, 2014 00:00:00

BCB President Nazmul Hassan Papon has said they plan to transform the Sheikh Kamal International Stadium in Cox’s Bazar into a Test cricket venue. The Bangladesh Cricket Board chief spoke of his expectation after an inspection of the stadium with the International Cricket Council (ICC) President Alan Isaac. The BCB chief said an appeal for approval will be made to the ICC once the stadium was complete within a year. The BCB had plans to organise the Women's World Twenty20 in the Cox’s Bazar stadium. But ICC didn't risk holding such a big competition on an untested pitch. The Bangladesh women’s national team have played several international matches against the Indian and Pakistani women in the arena. The ICC chief expressed his discontent about the floodlight failures in some matches of the global event after the inspection. Flood light failures twice in South Africa-England Super 10 match, once in Sri Lanka-Netherlands and Afghanistan-Netherlands warm-up matches each forced the games to be halted for some time. This sort of situation is desirable to no one, he said and advised the BCB to be more cautious regarding the matter and be prepared for any situations. But Isaac is pleased with the organisation of the world event, according to bdnews24.com.
