The 14th Cute Premier Division Handball League, organised by Bangladesh Handball Federation, begins today (Wednesday) at the Outer Stadium handball ground in the city with two matches billing for the opening day, reports UNB.

Additional IGP Mahfuzul Haque will inaugurate the seven-team metropolis league, arranged after a three-year gap.

Last time runners-up Narinda Progoti Boys' Club will play against newcomers Bhratritto Samaj Kollyan Sangha in the opening match at 3:30 pm while Dhaka Mariner Youngs Club face promotee Menjis Krira Chokro in the other opening day's fixture at 5:00 pm.

Defending champions Bangladesh Rifles are not allowed to play in the premier league as they have already participated in separate league for services teams.

Sponsor Mousumi Industries, manufacturer of Cute cosmetics, will provide the entire expenditure of the league amounting to Tk 237,000.

All the seven participating teams will be given Tk 5,000 each as appearance money while the best players of each match will be awarded with man of the match trophy.

General Secretary of Bangladesh Handball Federation Asaduzzaman Kohinoor disclosed the details of the league at a press conference at the federation office Tuesday. Tournament Committee Chairman Shahed Reza and tournament secretary Mokbul Hossain were also present on the occasion.

Participating teams are: Narinda Progoti Boys' Club, Dhaka Mariner Youngs Club, Old Ideals, Victoria SC, Surjodoya KC, Menjis KC and Bhratritto Samaj Kollyan Sangha.
