Dhaka Abahani at the top

Holders Dhaka Abahani got back in the top slot in the Citycell 2nd B League beating Muktijoddha Sangsad KC by 2-0 goals at the Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS) in the city Friday.
With this win, Dhaka Abahani secured 19 points, two points ahead of Sheikh Russell KC (17 points), while Muktijoddha Sangsad KC remained at four points, both playing eight matches, reports UNB.
In the day's match, substitute Shahajuddin Tipu and striker Zahid Hasan Emily scored one goal each for the winners. The match was locked in goalless during the first half.
Tipu scored the first goal for Dhaka Abahani in the 79th minute with a header from inside the danger zone capitalising on an Emily's left-wing cross (1-0).
Emily doubled Abahani's margin from a penalty in the 84th minute. Dhaka Abahani got the spot kick when opponent defender Bipul fouled onrushing Emily in the danger zone. Referee Azad Rahman made no mistake in awarding the spot-kick in favour of Dhaka Abahani (2-0).
Earlier, Dhaka Abahani launched a series of attacks all through the match. They dominated the match in the entire proceedings and notched their deserving victory.
The sky-blue Dhanmondi 'outfit' came close to scoring early in the 12th minute, but Abul Hossain's powerful shot from 15 yards sailed harmlessly over the crossbar.
Abul missed another scoring chance in the 34th minute when his superb shot from the vantage position off an Emeka pass was gripped by Muktijoddha custodian Nizam who performed superbly under the bar in the match foiling some certain Abahani attempts.
