A seven-wicket haul by Mehedy Hasan Miraz enabled Khulna Division to bundle out Dhaka Division for 113 runs in 38.4 overs in the first innings on the first day of the four-day 6th and last round Tier-1 match of the Walton 1oT Smart Fridge 19th National Cricket League that began on Wednesday at BKSP ground-3 in Savar after a recess of about two months, reports UNB.

Sent in to bat first, Dhaka Division lost wickets on a regular interval to be dismissed cheaply with only four batsmen -- Rakibul Hasan (28), Shuvagoto Hom (21), Nazmul Hossain Apu (14) and Shahadat Hossain (10) -- reaching the double figure.

National Cricketer Mehedy Hasan Miraz bowled devastatingly to claim his career best seven wickets conceding only 24 runs in his 11.4 overs spell with five maidens while another national bowling sensation Mustafizur Rahman captured two wickets for 16 runs and veteran spinner Abdur Razzak took one for 43 runs.

In reply, title aspirant and league leader Khulna scored 23 for no loss in 4.5 overs with Anamul Haque and Soumya Sarkar batting on 12 and 11 runs respectively.

The start of the match was delayed by dense fog.

In another Tier-1 match of the league at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong, Barisal Division scored 280 for 6 in 77 overs in the first innings against Rangpur Division on the first day featuring three half centuries by Shohag Gazi, Mohammad Nuruzzaman and Al Amin.

Batting first after winning the toss, Barisal Division faced an initial batting jolt losing three quick wickets for 50 runs in 18.5 overs and their misery further consolidated losing five wickets for 125 runs, but Mohammad Nuruzzaman pairing with all-rounder Shohag Gazi carried the team total to a respectable position contributing 145 runs in the 6th wicket stand.

Shohag Gazi hammered 99 runs off 104 balls featuring 13 fours and one six before he fell victim of nervous ninety being caught by Nasir Hossain off a Sajedul Islam delivery while Nuruzzaman contributed an unbeaten 51 runs off 121 balls hitting five fours and a six.

Two down Al Amin made a half century scoring just 50 runs off 85 balls with the help of eight boundaries while number five Mosaddek Hossain scored 61-ball 35 runs with three fours and opener Rafsan Al Mahmud made 59-ball 25 runs hitting four fours.
