Dhaka score 300 for 5 in 95 overs, Javed hits century

Opener Javed Omar hit a century to put holders Dhaka Division in a commanding position in the 4th round four-day match of the Ispahani Mirzapore Tea 9th National Cricket League against Chittagong Division at the Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in the city Sunday, reports UNB.
Overnight batsman Javed scored 101 runs off 241 balls with 14 fours, enabling Dhaka Division to finish the 2nd day on 300 for 5 in 95 overs in their first innings.
This was Javed's first and the 4th century of the ongoing NCL after Shakib Al Hasan, Imrul Kayes and Alok Kapali.
Another overnight opener Anwar Hossain also contributed 62 runs off 95 balls that featured 11 boundaries while number three bat Al Shahriar Rokon scored 44 runs and skipper Mohammad Ashraful made 35 as the reigning champions are poised for a big total.
Openers Javed and Anwar earlier laid the foundation of the innings putting up 104 runs in the 1st wicket and then Javed and Rokon added another 94 runs in the 2nd wicket partnership.
After the departure of Anwar and Rokon, Javed pairing with Ashraful added valuable 57 runs in the 3rd wicket to carry the team total to 255 for 3 in 73 overs before Ashraful was sent back by Faisal.
Middle order Mehrab Hossain Jr. batting on 21 and number seven Mahmudullah Riyad on 9 will resume the innings today (Monday).
Faisal Hossain Dickens grabbed two wickets for 50 runs in 22 overs while skipper Ehsanul Haque Shezan and Saju Datta took one wicket apiece.
Earlier, in the morning, Dhaka Division resumed the 1st innings with overnight 17 for none in 5 overs after they bowled out Chittagong Division for 200.
