The Dhaka Zone qualifiers of the First Security Islami Bank National School Hockey Tournament will begin today (Tuesday) at the Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium in the city, reports UNB.
In the opening match, Zinzira PM Pilot High School will face Motijheel Govt Boy's High School.
Twenty-one school teams, split into six groups, are taking part in the zonal phase of the qualifiers. Later, the six group champions will qualify for the final round.
Addressing a press conference at the Hockey Federation conference room on Monday, tournament secretary ANM Mamunur Rashid said champions of seven of the 11 zonal qualifiers have already qualified for the final round which is expected to start in the first week of the next month (March).
