Dinajpur DSA beat Ctg DSA by 8 wickets

Dinajpur District Sports Association notched an emphatic eight-wicket victory over Chittagong District Sports Associtaion in a match of the 34th National Cricket Championship at Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogra on Monday, reports UNB.

Batting first after winning the toss, Chittagong scored 228 runs for 7 wickets in stipulated 50 overs, riding on skipper Sazzad Ul Haq's unbeaten century with 119 runs off 129 balls that featured 8 fours and five sixes.

Yasir Ali (40), Arman Ullah (18), Abdul Kader (14) and Irfan Sukur (11) were the other double digit scorers for Chittagong.

Jamil Labu grabbed four wickets for 41 runs while Faisal Mostak, Sanjit Saha and Zahid Javed took one wicket each.

Chasing 229 runs, Dinajpur reached the target scoring 230 runs for 2 in 37.5 overs, aided by a 161-run partnership in 24.3 overs, in the 2nd wicket stand by Nabin Islam and Liton Kumar.

Opener Nabin Islam hit an unbeaten century (109 runs off 118 balls) with 12 fours and 2 sixes and was adjudged man-of-the-match.

Skipper Liton Kumar scored 92 runs off 75 balls with 11 fours and 2 sixes while another opener Prottoy Ranjan added 14 runs.

Yasir Ali and Rony Chowdhury took one wicket each for 9 and 30 runs respectively.

Sylhet vs Naogaon

In the day's other match, Sylhet DSA defeated Naogaon DSA by a huge 181 runs at Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium in Cox's Bazar.

Batting first after winning the toss, Sylhet posted a fighting 253 runs for 9 wickets in 50 overs, riding on opener Moynul Hasan's unbeaten century.

Moynu's scored not out 144 off 146 balls with 10 fours and 3 sixes and was adjudged man-of-the-match.

Mizanur Rahman Sayem (26), skipper Tapash Baishya (24), Ezaj Ahmed (15), Mehedi Mahbub (13) and Nasum Ahmed (13) were the other notable scorers for Sylhet.

Avijit grabbed three wickets for 33 runs while Kamrul Hasan Nishat took two wickets for 54 runs.

Chasing 254 runs, Naogaon were dismissed cheaply for 72 runs in 30.4 overs.

Opener Anwar Hossain Milon scored team highest 37 runs while another opener Avijit (10) was the other double digit scorer.

Nasum Ahmed and Mehedi Mahbub grabbed three wickets each for 8 and 35 runs respectively while Mahbub Hasan took two wickets for 1 run.
