Divisional Gold Cup begins May 30

The 5th version of the Dhaka Divisional Commissioner Gold Cup Football Tournament, organised by Dhaka Divisional Sports Association (DDSA), will begin Friday (May 30) at Munshiganj Stadium, reports UNB.

Hosts Munshiganj DSA will play Tangail DSA in the opening match. Seventeen districts of Dhaka Division, divided in four groups, will play in the 14 venues of the divisions without any match in the capital. Dhaka Divisional Commissioner and DDSA President M Zillar Rahman disclosed the details of the tournament at a press conference at the conference room of Bangabandhu National Stadium Sunday.

DDSA General Secretary Kutubuddin Aksir also spoke on the occasion.  Tournament Committee Chairman Anisur Rahman and Tournament coordinator M Ali Hossain were also present at the press conference.

Participating teams are: Group A - Faridpur, Madaripur, Shariatpur, Gopalganj and Narayanganj DSAs Group B - Rajbari, Manikganj, Munshiganj and Tangail DSAs, Group C - Netrakona, Gazipur, Narsingdi and Kishoreganj DSAs Group D - Dhaka, Mymensingh, Jamalpur and Sherpur DSAs. Later, four group champions will play in the semifinal. The final match will be held on June 20.

All the participating teams have to field at-least seven players of the district in a match and they are entitled to recruit maximum four players in a match from outside, including foreign booters.
