DRU Inter-House Cricket begins today

The DRU-Pepsi Inter-House Cricket, organised by the Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU), begins today (Saturday) at the Maulana Bhasani National Hockey Stadium with six matches slated for the opening day, reports UNB.
Opening day's matches: New Age vs Jai Jai Din, Radio Today vs Ajkaler Khabar, Jugantor vs Independent, Baishakhi TV vs Janapad, Inqilab vs Daily Sun, and Naya Diganta vs UNB.
Thirty teams, split into eight groups, are taking part in the six-a-side knock out basis meet, sponsored by Transcom Beverage Limited.
Of the total Tk 492,000 budget, Trancsom Beverage Limited will provide Tk 300,000 to run the meet.
Co-sponsor Rapid Securities Limited will award the champions Tk 50,000, the runners-up Tk 25,000 and the two losing semifinalists Tk 10,000 each as prize money while the best player of the meet will get Tk 5,000.
DRU Sports Secretary Kamruzaman Hiru disclosed the details at a press conference at the DRU hall room Friday.
DRU president Shamim Ahmed, general secretary Pathik Saha, Transcom Beverage Limited managing director Golam Quddus Chowdhury Babu, tournament committee secretary Monwar Haq and member secretary Rafiqul Islam were present.
