Islami Bank East Zone won by three wickets over Walton Central Zone on day four in their four-day encounter of the Bangladesh Cricket League at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong Sunday, reports UNB.
Opening the second innings on the fourth day the banker's team East Zone (304 in the first innings) scored 227 runs for 7 in 30.5 overs to seal the win, riding on the opening stand of 127 runs in 18.4 overs by Shadman Islam and Nafees Iqbal.
Shadman, who was adjudged man of the match, hit team highest 78 runs off 67 balls with seven.
Nafees Iqbal scored 56 runs off 61 balls with two fours and two sixes while Asif Ahmed (25), skipper Alok Kapali (21), Tasamul Haque (not out 11) and Rajin Saleh (not out 10) were the other double digit scorers for the side on the final day.
Sharif Ullah, Abu Haydar and Elias Sunny took two wickets for 44, 60 and 65 runs in the second innings on the fourth day.
Earlier, Central Zone (179 runs in the first innings) resumed the second innings with overnight score of 215 runs for 5 in 79 overs and raised the tally to 348 runs for 9 in 136.4 overs before declared the innings, spurred by Sharifullah's 79 runs off 149 balls with 10 fours.
Mehrab Hossain Jr scored 38 runs off 100 balls with seven fours while Jabid Hossain (34), Elias Sunny (not out 23) and skipper Mosharraf Hossain (13) were the double digit scorers for the side on the fourth day.
Abul Hasan grabbed four wickets for 78 runs while Nabil Samad captured three wickets for 58 runs in the second innings. Abu Jayed and Kamrul Islam Rabbi took one wicket each for the side conceding 29 and 55 runs respectively.
