Bangladesh's wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim noted that working on specific drills in order to use the bottom hand more efficiently helped him to succeed in the T20 tri-series held in Sri Lanka in March. The middle order batsman compiled 199 runs in the tournament, reports Cricbuzz.

According to the traditional batting manual, right handed batsmen tend to use their bottom hand to play lofted strokes, while the upper hand dictates the shot that travels all along the ground.

However, with the significant rise of T20 cricket, it is widely observed that batsmen are trying new ways to succeed. Rahim worked with his childhood coach Nazmul Abedin ahead of the Nidahas Trophy in order to prepare for the tournament.

"In T20 cricket, you have to play some big shots and also take some calculated risks, and I worked with Sir (Nazmul) on those aspects of batting,'' he told reporters at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in the city.

"There are some drills for the bottom hand that can help you to achieve success in a short span of time. I worked on those things with Sir and I am very happy with the outcome. In future, if required, I will work on it more extensively by putting more time and (hard work) behind it,'' he added.

As a result of his planning, hard work and execution, Rahim's game seemed to be in sync during the tournament.
