Ex-footballer Babu dies

Former Bangladesh national team footballer Akhteruzzaman Khan Babu passed away at a hospital in India. He was 58, reports UNB.

Babu, who was suffering from old- age complications along with diabetes and hypertension, died at Christian Medical College and Hospital, Vellore, India around 6:00 am on Monday.

The veteran footballer survived by his wife, two sons and a host of relatives to mourn his death.

Babu joined in Bangladesh national side as a regular member during 1982-83.

Besides, he had a dazzling club career playing for Dhaka Abahani Ltd, Brothers Union, Wari Club and Surjatarun Football Club. BFF President Kazi Salahuddin Ahmed expressed deep shock at the death of Babu and expressed sympathy to the bereaved family.
