Farhad bowling spell steers Rajshahi to win over Barisal

Farhad Hossain's fierce bowling spell steered Rajshahi Division to a comprehensive 175-run victory over Basrisal Division on the third day of the Walton 13th four-day National Cricket League at the Shamsul Huda Stadium in Jessore Wednesday, reports UNB. Chasing the winning target of 320 runs, Basisal Division, started their second innings on the third day (Wednesday) and were dismissed at 144 in 31.4 overs. Resuming the second innings on third day with overnight 176 for 4, Rajshai Division were all out for 313 in 98.5 overs giving the target 320 to Barisal Division. Apart from Farhad Hossain four wickets for eight runs, Saqlain Sajib scalped three wickets conceding 63 runs while Sanjamul Islam took two wickets for 33. Earlier, Barisal Division, in their first innings, scored 216 for all in reply to Rajshahi Division's first innings total of 222. Sohag Gazi of Barisal Division was adjudged the player of the match for his all round show. At the Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogra, riding on Dhiman Ghosh and Alauddin Babu's brilliant tons, Rangpur Division set a huge 592-run victory target against Chittagong Division. Resuming the third day (Wednesday) with overnight 429 for 5, Rangpur Division, in their second innings, scored a massive total of 587 for all in 135.1 overs. Night watch batsman Dhiman Ghosh scored 183 runs off 275 balls with 26 fours and a six while Alauddin Babu contributed 180 off 207 balls with 22 fours and a six. Beside, another night watch batsman Tanveer Haider scored 54 runs while Ariful Haque made 41. Kazi Kamrul took two wickets conceding 54 runs. Chasing the target, Chttagong Division started their second innings on the third day and scored 189 for 3 in 44 overs at stumps. Earlier, Chittagong Division, in their first innings, was all out for 118 in reply to Rangpur Division's first innings total of 122 for all. At the Shaheed Kamruzzaman Stadium in Rajshai, Khulna Division set 343 runs victory target Dhaka Metropolis. Dhaka Metropolis opened their second innings on the third day (Wednesday) and scored 143 for 5 at stumps on the day. They need 200 more runs to win the match with five wickets in hand and one more day to go. Earlier, Dhaka Metropolis, declared their first innings at 164 for 8 in 49.2 overs in reply of Khulna Division's first innings total of 256 for all.
