Faridpur DSA emerge group champion to reach 'super six'

Faridpur DSA emerged group champions to reach the super six of the Araf Apparels 21st National Youth Hockey Championship, beating Comilla DSA by 3-1 goals at the Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium in the city Saturday, reports UNB.
Earlier, four teams -- BKSP, Dhaka, Munshiganj and Mymensingh DSAs -- emerged group champions to reach the super six of the meet.
After the day's match, both Faridpur DSA and Rajshahi Division earned four points each on completion of two group matches, but Faridpur clinched the Group F title by virtue of better goal difference.
In the day's match, Faridpur DSA led the first half by a solitary goal.
Saiful Islam struck twice and Ali Raj Plabon netted one for Faridpur DSA while Pavel netted the consolation goal for losers Comilla DSA.
In the day's another match, Dinajpur DSA kept their super six hope alive, outplaying Panchagarh DSA by 5-0 goals at the same venue in the morning. Abu Rohan struck three, Mamun and Saddam netted one each for the winners, all in the first half.
In the day's remaining match, Rajshahi DSA defeated Sylhet DSA by 4-1 goals at the same venue this morning.
Sabbir Hossain netted twice, Noman Hossain and Shuvo Kumar scored one each for the winners while Ashraful Wahid Murad netted the lone goal for the losers.
Rajshahi and Dinajpur will play each other today (Sunday) to decide which team will reach the super six.
