Football festival at Gazipur

Japan Oversease Cooperation Volunteer (JOCV) of JICA and Basic Development Partners (BDP) organised a football festival at Gazipur on October 29. The main purpose was to develop awareness of the school children not only about their text book studies but also about their physical and mental health, said a press release.
The JOCVs started this campaign with different schools of BDP to help the children learn things through playing football together. Member of Parliament Meher Afroz Chumki, JICA representatives Hiroshi Asai, Ikuko Wakai, Dr. Sharder A. Nayeem (Associate Professor) of Bangladesh Medical College attended the festival.
The JOCVs organised football campaigns in different primary schools by turn from May this year. To conclude this programme for this year, they organised a football festival at Gazipur on October 29. About 200 students (girls and boys) from 9 different BDP schools and Japanese School Dhaka participated in the festival.
