Forrest bags WBC light-middleweight title

TACOMA, Jul 29 (AFP): Vernon Forrest seized the vacant World Boxing Council (WBC) light-middleweight title with a unanimous 12-round decision over Argentina's Carlos Baldomir here Saturday. Forrest, a 36-year-old former 147-pound champion whose best days appeared to be behind him put himself back in line for a big payday by claiming the 154-pound crown. Baldomir (36) enjoyed a spectacular 2006, vaulting from journeyman to star status with shock victories over Zab Judah and Arturo Gatti.
