Garcia's hat-trick guides Police to beat Brothers 4-1

The first phase of the 10-team ABG Bashundhara Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football concluded today (Saturday) at two separate venues across the country, reports UNB.

At the Muktijoddha Smriti Stadium in Rajshahi, a brilliant hat-trick by Colombian forward Garcia enabled Bangladesh Police FC to beat bottom- placed Brothers Union Club by 4-1 goals in their last first phase match Saturday afternoon.

Garcia completed the hat-trick scoring three goals in a row in the 52nd, 72nd , 79th minutes of the match after Syed scored the first goal for Police in the stoppage time of the first half ( 45+2 minute.)

However, Rabby scored the first goal of the match for Brothers Union in the 43rd minute.

Mithu of Police FC got his marching order after receiving 2nd yellow card in the match.

In the day's other match, Fortis Football Club finished 5th in the first phase league beating Chittagong Abahani Limited by 2-0 goals at the Birshreshtha Flight Lt. Matiur Rahman Stadium, Munshiganj on Saturday afternoon.

After a barren first half, Fortis FC took the lead in the 76th minute by a gifted goal when the Nigerian midfielder of Abahani Muritala sent the ball to his own net (1-0).

Gambian forward Omar Sarr doubled the Fortis FC margin scoring the 2nd goal in the 82nd minute (2-0).

After the first phase matches, Defending champions Bashundhara comfortably dominated the league table securing 22 points, Mohammedan SC, the lone unbeaten team in the league, followed the Kings distantly securing 17 points while Dhaka Abahani Ltd is in the 3rd slot collecting 15 points.

Sheikh Jamal DC finished 4th with 13 points, Fortis FC 5th with 13 points while three teams --Sheikh Russel KC finished 6th, Police FC 7th and Ctg Abahani 8th, collecting 10 points each

Rahmatganj MFS finished 9th with seven points while old horse Brothers Union Club remained at bottom with only three points.
