MANCHESTER, Oct 17 (AFP): Manchester United winger Ryan Giggs signed a one-year contract with the Premier League champions Tuesday.
Giggs's current deal expired at the end of this season but he will now remain at Old Trafford until at least June 2009.
Agreeing to extend his stay with United means Giggs should beat Sir Bobby Charlton's club record of 759 appearances. The Wales star has played 727 times and is one of United's most decorated players with 18 major medals to his name, including nine Premier League titles, four FA Cups and one European Cup.
"I am delighted to have signed for a further season," Giggs told United's website. "I am enjoying football more than ever and I hope to carry on playing football for Manchester United for as long as I can”.
