CARNOUSTIE (Scotland), Jul 17 (AFP): Singa-pore's Lam Chih Bing will help fly the flag for Asian golf at the British Open armed with some tips from former US Open winner Retief Goosen.
Lam, only the second player from the city state to compete at the world's oldest major, is revelling in the experience of being able to rub shoulders with the likes of Tiger Woods and Vijay Singh -- just two of the stars who were pounding balls alongside him on the range Tuesday.
The 30-year-old has also enjoyed warm-up rounds with Goosen and Australia's world number five, Adam Scott.
"It's been awesome so far," Lam purred. "Being here in person is a totally different feeling than watching it on TV. Everywhere you turn, there's somebody of stature. To be in their midst, it's a dream.
Lam's main goal is to play all four rounds here-something which his compatriot Mardam Mamat was unable to do in either of his Open appearances, in 1997 and 2005.
