Govt appoints presidents to five sports federations

The government appointed Tuesday presidents to five national sports federations with Establishment Secretary M Abdus Salam Khan being the boss of Bangladesh Chess Federation.
The Youth and Sports Ministry also appointed new presidents to Shooting, Wrestling, Carom and Judo Federations, said a PID handout.
It said GOC of the 9th Infantry Division Major General M Ashabuddin has been made president of National Shooting Federation while Labour and Employment Secretary M Ashfaq Hamid president of Bangladesh Wrestling Federation.
Acting Secretary of Post and Telecommunications Ministry Sheikh Khurshid Alam has been appointed president of Bangladesh Carom Federation while Director General of DGFI Major General Golam Mohammad president of Bangladesh Judo Federation.
Earlier, the government relieved Bangladesh Chess Federation president M Rafiqul Islam, Judo Federation president Major General M Akbar Akter and Shooting Federation president M Lutfar Rahman Talukder as they went on retirement.
Bangladesh Wrestling Federation president Jafar Ahmed Chowdhury and Carom Federation president ABM Abdul Haque Chowdhury quit their posts.
