Green team keep winning spree

Pace spearhead Mashrafe Bin Mortaza-led Green team maintained their winning run in the twenty20 practice matches against Mohammad Ashraful-led Red team, winning the 3rd match by nine runs at the Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in the city Sunday, reports UNB.
The 4th practice match between the two sides was abandoned due to heavy rain.
In the day's match, coin-favoured Green team batted first to post 134 runs for six wickets in the allocated 20 overs with left-handed opener Junaid Siddiqui Imroze contributing innings highest 36 runs off 31 balls that featured three fours.
Another opener Tamim Iqbal and dashing batsman Aftab Ahmed scored 27 runs each while Shakib Al Hasan was the other notable scorer with 17 runs.
Spinners Alok Kapali and Mahmudullah Riyadh and medium pacer Farhad Reza took two wickets each.
In reply, Kapali did his best scoring match highest 68 runs off 64 balls with two fours and two sixes, but could not avert the defeat for the Red team who were restricted to 125 runs for six wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.
Farhad Reza contributed 26 runs off 18 balls with three sixes, Nazimuddin made 11 and Riyadh 10.
Left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak Raj and pacer Mohammad Sharif took two wickets apiece for 22 and 24 runs respectively, but skipper Mashrafe remained wicket/less giving away 38 runs.
In the day's other match, the Red team chose to bat first after winning the toss and were 54 for 4 in 9 overs when the match was called off due to rain.
Nazimuddin was batting with 28 runs while wicket-keeper Mushfiqur Rahim was the other unbeaten batsman with 2.
Earlier, on Saturday, the Mashrafe-led Green team won both the twenty20 matches -- the first by five wickets and second by three runs -- against the Mohammad Ashraful-led Red team.
