Halim walks into Guinness Book of World Record

Sheer determination and raw perseverance enabled Abdul Halim of Magura to walk into the history as he accomplished an amazing task of keeping a football on his head and walk 15.2 kilometres which entitled him to stake a claim in the most sought Guinness Book of World Records at the Bangabandhu National Stadium Saturday, reports BSS.
Halim has being in headlines for the last few days as he was seen practicing at the athletic track at the Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS) in an effort to break the record of Yee Ming Low of Malaysia, who on 21st August, 2009, completed 11.129 kilometres walk at the Subang Jaya Municipality Stadium Selangor and was the holder of the record of "The farthest distance traveled with a football balanced on the head".
A sparse crowd gathered at Bangabandhu National Stadium and Halim started his quest for the glory at 9:40 am with a vision to create his own record in this event. He received a big cheer from few hundred eager spectators who wanted to be part of the history. Halim took his own sweet time to go into full rhythm as he trotted in the 400-metre track completing his laps slowly and steadily.
Halim's effort was sponsored by Walton (RB Group) who provided Tk 50,000. FM Iqbal Bin Anwar, Deputy Director of RB Group said, "Our company will give him cash award of Tk 0.1 million after his confirmation and approval from the Guinness Book of the World Record."
