Hayden returns as Australia bat

Ricky Ponting chose to bat in the one-off Twenty20 clash on a virgin strip at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. Matthew Hayden returned after a two-game break while Ben Hilfenhaus and Stuart Clark came in for Mitchell Johnson and a hamstrung James Hopes, reports Cricinfo.
India, the reigning World Twenty20 champions, left out Joginder Sharma, Ajit Agarkar and Dinesh Karthik. Nine members of the side were part of the dramatic final against Pakistan, a tense game which they clinched by 5 runs. Murali Kartik, who turned hero in the final one-dayer by taking 6 for 27, was rewarded with a spot while Virender Sehwag made a much-awaited comeback.
Ponting didn't think there would be much swing early on and expected the pitch to aid spin later, though Australia left out Brad Hogg from their XI. After drawing flak for an under-prepared pitch during last year's Champions Trophy, officials at the Cricket Club of India decided to prepare a new pitch for this encounter.
