The International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed that the Event Technical Committee of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 has approved Imrul Kayes as a replacement player for Anamul Haque Bijoy in Bangladesh squad for the tournament, said ICC media release Friday.

The 28-year-old Imrul Kayes played 53 ODIs in which he scored 1,390 runs at an average of 26.73 with one century and 10 half-centuries.  His last ODI for Bangladesh was against Zimbabwe in November 2014, reports UNB.

Earlier on Thursday night, Imrul Kayes left for Adelaide, Australia, to join the Bangladesh team.

Anamul suffered a shoulder injury during Bangladesh's six-wicket victory over Scotland in Nelson, New Zealand Thursday and had been ruled out of the tournament.

Bangladesh is in Pool-A of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 along with co-hosts Australia and New Zealand as well as England, Sri Lanka and associates Afghanistan and Scotland.
