ICC officially launches World Test Championship

NEW DELHI, July 29 (Hindustan Times): The apex cricketing body, International Cricket Council (ICC) on Monday officially launched the inaugural World Test Championship (WTC).
The championships will see the top nine Test playing nations fight it out with each other across 71 matches in 27 series, played in the next two years.
The top two teams among the nine nations - Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka and the West Indies- will contest in the ICC World Test Championship Final in June 2021 (to be played in the UK) and the winners will be crowned ICC World Test Champions.
The championship will begin August 1 as Australia and England will face each other in the Ashes.
