NEW DELHI, JAN 11 (AP): The Indian cricket board says it has appointed former South Africa coach Eric Simons as the national team's new bowling coach.
"Simons has been appointed bowling consultant of the Indian cricket team for the test series against Bangladesh, and the test and one-day international series against South Africa," Board of Control for Cricket in India secretary Narainswamy Srinivasan said in a statement Monday.
Simons, 47, played 23 limited-overs internationals for South Africa before coaching the national team from 2002 to 2004. India coach Gary Kirsten was an opening batsman in the South African team during Simons' tenure.
