India emerge champions, BD finish runners-up

India emerged champions securing four gold, three silver and three bronze medals in the 3rd ISSF International Solidarity World Ranking Archery Championship that concluded at the Shaheed Ahsanullah Master Stadium in Tongi on Tuesday, reports UNB.

In the battle of 10 gold medals in Recurve and Compound divisions of the four-day meet, hosts Bangladesh bagged two gold, three silver and four bronze medals to finish runners-up after their giant neighbour India.

Iran, Germany, Chinese Taipei and Thailand won the remaining gold medals of the 3rd edition of the ISSF Championship, organised by Bangladesh Archery Federation (BAF) for the 3rd times in a row. Jute and Textiles Minister M Golam Dastagir Gazi was the chief guest at the day's closing function and later he distributed the prizes.

ISSF Secretary General Mohammed SM Algarnas, Treasurer Bindallak Abdullaziz Saad A, Executive Director (Marketing & Sales) of City Group Zafar Uddin Siddiqui and BAF President Lt Gen (retd) M Moinul Islam, BAF General Secretary Kazi Razibuddin Ahmed and Member Secretary of Tournament Committee Rashiduzzaman Serniabat were also present.
