India keep dogged Pakistan at bay

KOLKATA, Dec 3 (BBC): India remain in control of the second Test despite Pakistan's stubborn effort with the bat on day four in Kolkata.
Misbah-ul-Haq (161no) and Mohammad Sami (38) achieved the 417 required to avoid the follow-on after India posted a mammoth first innings total of 616-5.
But the hosts took four wickets after lunch to bowl out Pakistan for 456 and then closed on 121-2, a lead of 301.
Mahendra Dhoni (28) and Sourav Ganguly (24) were unbeaten after India lost Dinesh Karthik and Wasim Jaffer.
Both openers fell to the spin of Danish Kaneria as they attempted to up the run rate with some aggressive, and at times careless, hitting.
Day 4: India 616 for 5 dec and 141 for 2 (Jaffer 56, Kaneria 2-41) lead Pakistan 456 (Misbah 161*, Sami 38, Harbhajan 5-122) by 301 runs.
