Four-time champions India stormed into the final of the SAFF Women's Championship for the 5th time in a row eliminating Bangladesh by 4-0 goals in the 2nd semifinal at Shahid Rangashala in the Nepalese city of Biratnagar on Wednesday, reports UNB.
Last time runners-up Bangladesh conceded three quick goals in the first half in a span of only 19 minutes in the elimination round of the 5th version of the South Asian Women's Football.
With the day's feat, India maintained their unbeaten record in the SAFF Women's Championship playing 22 matches since its inception in 2010 in winning all four previous editions.
India won 21 matches out of 22 and in the remaining match they played to a goalless draw against Bangladesh in a group match of the last edition of the meet held in the Indian town of Siliguri in 2016.
Out of nine meeting, India have now beat Bangladesh on eight occasions at senior level in the women's game, with Bangladesh suffering a humiliating 1-7 goals defeat against India in their previous match in the Tokyo Olympics Qualifiers in November last year in Myanmar.
In the day's first semifinal, hosts Nepal smartly reached final for the 4th time eliminating Sri Lanka by 4-0 goals at the same venue Wednesday morning.
Himalayan nation Nepal will play giant India in the final on Friday (March 22) at the same venue.
In the day's 2nd semi, Indumati Katheresan struck twice while Dalmia Chibbar and Manisha scored one each.
Dalmia Chibbar put India ahead in the 18th minute by pushing the ball home from a goalmouth melee utilizing a corner kick (1-0).
Just five minute later, Indumati Katheresan doubled in the Indian margin by placing shot beating Bangladesh defender (2-0). .
In the 37th minute, Indumati scored her 2nd and the 3rd goal for India also by a straight placing shot from a counterattack (3-0).
In the 2nd half, India maintained their heavy pressure on Bangladesh territory and Manisha sealed the fate of the match scoring the 4th goal from a handshake distance in the stoppage time (93rd minute) 4-0.
