Inter-University T20 Cricket begins

CHITTAGONG, May 12 (UNB): The Dokhina First Inter-University T20 Cricket Tournament, organised by the Chittagong Divisional Sports Association (CDSA), began at the Divisional Women's Sports complex here Tuesday.

Newly elected Mayor of Chittagong City Corpo- ration AJM Nasiruddin inaugurated the eight-team tournament in the morning at a colourful opening ceremony that featured march past by all participating teams and hoisting the national, divisional, Olympic and participating teams flags.

Vice Chancellor of Chittagong University Prof Anwarul Azim Arif, Editor and Publisher of the meet's sponsor monthly "Dokhina" Sarwar Jahan, CDSA vice-president Alhaj Ali Abbas, General Secretary Sirajuddin Mohammad Alamgir spoke on the occasion.

In the opening match, Premier University batted first after losing the toss against Chittagong Inter -national Islami University and scored 25 runs for 4 wickets in 4 overs before the match was abandoned for heavy rain.

The day's 2nd match between BGC Trust University and Southern University was not held due to unplayable ground.

Later, all the four teams shared one point each as per tournament's bye -laws

The participating teams are Chittagong University, Southern University, Premier University, East Delta University, Chittagong Independent University, Chittagong International Islami University, Cox's Bazar International University and BGC Trust University.
