Int\\\'l Rating Chess begins in city

Eight-day Walton International Rating Chess Tournament kicked off at the Bangladesh Chess Federation hall room in the city Saturday, reports UNB.

First Senior Additional Director of Walton Group FM Iqbal Bin Anwar Dawn inaugurated the meet as the chief guest while Bangladesh Chess Federation general secretary Gazi Shayiful Tarique was also present on the occasion.

In the first round games, a total of 63 players,including GM Abdullah Al-Rakib, FM Syed Mahfuzur Rahman, FM Mehdi Hasan Parag, FM Mohammad Javed, FM Rezaul Haque and FM Saif Uddin earned full points each.

In all, 130 players, including one GM and five FM, are taking part in the event.
