Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club secured a seven-run victory over Legends of Rupganj by DLS system for their fifth victory in the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier League (DPL) at the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan (BKSP)-3 ground on Sunday, reports BSS.
Electing to bat first, Legends of Rupganj posted 137-6 but they failed to defend it as Jamal's Captain NurulHasanSohan and opener Shykat Ali kept the side ahead always in DLS method.
Sohan was not out on 44 off 30 while Shykat scored 43, playing the same number of balls as Jamal was 127-4 in 18 overs before the rain brought an end to the game.
As per DLS method, Jamal needed 120 in 18 overs. Since, they were seven runs ahead so they were declared the winner.
Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club are in fifth position now with 10 points from eight matches while Rupganj are in 10th spot with five points.
Meanwhile, Irfan Sukkur struck a brilliant 68 not out as Mohammedan Sporting Club clinched a 9-run victory over Old DOHS in the DPL by DLS system despite the absence of the star player and regular captain Shakib Al Hasan at BKSP-4 ground on Sunday.
However his absence mattered little as Mohammedan secured the fifth and second straight victory after three-match losing streak in the DPL to keep them strongly in the race of Super League.
Mohammedan kept them in fourth position in the point table so far with 10 points from eight matches. DOHS are in ninth position with five points from same number of matches.
In another match,Fazle Mahmud hit 57 ball-71 as Prime Doleshwar recorded a five-wicket victory over Partex Sporting Club in their eighth match in the DPL at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city on Sunday.
While this was Doleshwar's fifth victory in the eighth game which put them in the second spot, so far, Partex now tasted their eighth straight defeat to be languished at the bottom table.
