Javed, Mahmudullah tons boost Dhaka

Hosts Dhaka Division, riding on centuries by Javed Omar and Mahmudullah Riyad, took a 57-run first innings lead over Sylhet Division on the 3rd day of four-day 7th round match of Ispahani Mirzapore Tea 10th National Cricket League at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium at Mirpur in Dhaka Wednesday, reports UNB.
Replying to Sylhet Division's first innings total 363 runs, Dhaka Division resumed the first innings with overnight 155 for 5 and scored 420 for 8 in 125 overs when the bails were drawn for the 3rd day (Wednesday).
After the departure of four top order batsmen-Anwar Hossain (12), Elias Sunny (16), Shamsur Rahman (15) and Marshall Ayub (45)-- for 131 runs in 30.3 overs, number five Mahmudullah Riyad pairing with Nadif Chowdhury contributed 129 runs in the 5th wicket stand.
Later, Nadif Chowdhury partnering with skipper Javed Omar Belim scored 82 runs in the 6th wicket stand.
Veteran national opener Javed Omar Belim, batting at number seven, scored not out 106 runs off 176 balls with 19 fours while number five Mahmudullah Riyad contributed 103 runs off 175 balls with 14 fours.
Nadif Chowdhury added another useful 81 runs off 180 balls with eight fours and a six. Another 27 runs came from extras. Taposh Ghosh, Saikat Ali and Sumon Saha grabbed two wickets each for 60, 71 and 71 runs respectively.
Meanwhile, a four-wicket haul from Mohammad Shahajada guided Rajshahi to hand an emphatic eight-wicket defeat to Chittagong with one day to spare in the seventh round four-dayers of the National Cricket League Wednesday.
