Teenaged opening batsman Junaed Siddique Imrose will play his first international cricket match as the Bengal Tigers take on Pakistan in their last super eight match of the ICC World Twenty20 at Newlands in Cape Town today (Thursday), reports UNB.
The 19-year-old left-hand batsman is the only change in the Bangladesh line-up that played against Sri Lanka in the previous match.
He replaces 21 year old right handed opening batsman from the port city of Chittagong Mohammad Nazimuddin, who did not click in the last three ICC World Twenty20 matches, despite making a brilliant score of 81 against Pakistan in a four-nation Twenty20 warm-up tournament in Kenya this month.
Junaed, who started his career in 2003-04 season, scored three centuries- against Khulna Division in the first class cricket, against Chittagong Division in the limited over match and against Sonargaon Cricketers in the domestic Twenty20 League for Mohammedan SC, featuring a record of 11 sixes in a match in domestic cricket.
The Bengal Tigers returned to Cape Town Wednesday morning.
Bangladesh smartly reached the super eight of the ongoing ICC World Twenty20 cricket beating West Indies by 6 wickets in their first group match.
But they lost to hosts South Africa by seven wickets in the other Group A match.
In the super eight stage, the Bengal Tigers conceded a nine-wicket defeat against World champions Australia and was eliminated from the race conceding a huge 64-run defeat against Sri Lanka Tuesday.
